Founder of Capital CBT

I am Jo, the Founder of Capital CBT. Here is a brief overview of my qualifications and work experience to date:

I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 10 years experience working within mental health. I currently work for the NHS providing individual CBT treatment within the primary sector. More specifically, I am a High Intensity Therapist within an IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) service working with a vast range of mental health concerns.

My core profession was in Forensic Psychology working within the Prison Service for some years before going into the NHS. My studying has been a mixture of full time and part time university courses and on the job training.

My qualifications include:

  • BSc (joint honours) Psychology and Law - University of Wales, Swansea
  • MSc Forensic Psychology - Coventry University (BPS accredited course)
  • Post graduate diploma in Psychological Therapies (CBT) - Exeter University (BABCP accredited course)
  • I am also trained in Mindfulness.


Within my career I have also been a guest speaker within Universities, developed and run training for a variety of organisations, including, the Youth Offending Team, Prison Service staff, Probation Service staff and other voluntary sector organisations.
